What is a Dental Implant?

Did you know that 1 in 10 Canadians avoid certain foods because of problems with their teeth?

A dental implant is an artificial replacement for the root part of a tooth. An implant takes the form of a small metal post which is cylinder shaped. The implant is inserted and allowed time to fuse with your bone. Once this has happened, a replacement tooth/crown can be fitted to it via a small attachment. To learn more about implant treatment visit our Patient Education Centre videos.

Dental implants look like real teeth. You can chew, brush and most importantly, eat like normal. With proper care, dental implants will last a lifetime. At Dawson, your dental implant is guaranteed for a full five years, as long as you maintain your annual hygiene care.

How much do dental implants cost?

Implants cost $3,500/each. At Dawson, we offer no interest financing options to fit any budget. Also, keep in mind that you could return up to 20% on your investment come tax time using Canada Revenue Agency’s medical expense tax credit.

What is Teeth-In-A-Day All-On-4 Technology?

Dental Implants Teeth In A Day

Teeth-In-A-Day is a new implant system designed to allow you to walk into our office and walk out, the same day with permanent teeth, no joke!

You will receive four implants and a full set of new replacement teeth, per arch. Traditional implants require six, eight or even more implants per arch and patients often need bone grafting, which could require six months or more of healing time. The procedure saves you time and money, all with minimal discomfort. During a free consultation with one of our dentists you can learn whether or not you are a candidate. Learn More

What are mini implants and who are they best suited for?

Mini Dental Implants are less expensive than traditional Implants, but they are not permanent. They will generally last from 5-10 years. Also, they are not as secure as traditional Implants. However, Mini Dental Implants are still a far better choice than no Implants. They will help avoid bone loss and will still feel like real teeth.

The “Mini Implant System” was developed in order to provide greater denture stability for patients who cannot withstand the rigors of conventional implant surgery or do not have enough bone to allow for full-sized implants to be placed. They can only be used to secure dentures, not recommended for individual teeth or bridges.

What is a dental bridge?

A bridge is a porcelain tooth permanently attached to your natural teeth. It is permanently cemented into the mouth, providing solid support to the structure of the jaw and preventing adjacent teeth from shifting. For lost teeth, we build a special dental bridge that spans the spaces left by missing teeth.

How much does a dental bridge cost?

A bridge costs $3,200/each.

Why should you consider an implant or bridge?

Dental Implant Patient Experience

Patient talks about their Dawson Dental Implants experience.

A dental implant or bridge will give you the most natural result.  You can chew, brush and most importantly, eat like normal (ex: steak, corn on the cob, apples…). Once implants are inserted they are treated like real teeth.

Bone loss will occur when a missing tooth is not replaced. As soon as the natural teeth are removed or fall out, the face begins to age rapidly due to bone loss.

Alternative Option: Dentures

Denture relinement is recommended every two years ($280+/each visit). Dentures need on-going care.  If you do not follow recommendations by your dentist/denturist then your face will age much more rapidly. If you wait too long, the muscles that let you chew your food begin to shorten to accommodate the reduced space between your nose and your chin.

How much do dentures cost?

$1,400+ initial fee, not including lifetime maintenance (based on partial).
