Dawson Dental is now offering Botox, Dysport and Xeomin treatments for Therapeutic and Cosmetic purposes! Botox, Dysport and Xeomin are all neuromodulators that work to relax muscle contractions. When handled with precise skill and expertise, they can be used to safely address a number of therapeutic and cosmetic concerns.

“Frames are a key ingredient in the brilliant experience created by an artwork. Just like an artwork, you want to pay special care and attention to what’s framing your smile! Botox can help.” – Dr. Edward Gelfand, Founder of Dawson Dental Centres

Relief from TMJ & Migraines

If you clench or grind your teeth, our team may recommend a customized treatment plan for you inclusive of Botox therapy. By relaxing certain muscle groups involved in teeth grinding and clenching, we are able to decrease the amount of force generated which may help relieve painful headaches and tension in the area and decrease the risk of damage to your teeth and jaw.

Treating a “Gummy Smile”

In most cases a gummy smile is only a cosmetic issue. It is caused by:

  • small teeth that make your gum area look large in comparison.
  • an upper jaw that is long, meaning the upper lip does not adequately cover the gums when smiling.
  • a short upper lip, meaning there is a small distance between the bottom of the nose and the top of your lip.

If you tend to curl your upper lip under or raise it high above your teeth when you smile, making it look “gummier”, this can easily and effectively be treated with Botox. The best part of this treatment is that it is a non-invasive and quick procedure! One small injection of Botox can help relax the lip for a more balanced grin. Enhancing Your Smile

Our experienced team can also provide you with Cosmetic Botox and Xeomin treatments to complement our aesthetic dentistry services. We can address fine lines around the lip area, providing a more aesthetic smile, in addition to preventing or addressing fine lines and wrinkles around eyes or on the forehead.

Your smile is your biggest gateway to your personality and the way you present yourself to the world.

Missing or damaged teeth can often impact our self-confidence and the way we present ourselves to the world.  When you have missing teeth, your remaining teeth can loosen, which may lead to additional tooth loss. Bridges are often a solution that can fill the gaps and restore your mouth back to a healthy state. If missing teeth are left untreated, it can lead to gum disease and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

A Dental Bridge is a porcelain tooth permanently attached to your natural teeth. It is cemented into the mouth, providing solid support to the structure of the jaw, and preventing adjacent teeth from shifting. For lost teeth, a Dental Bridge spans the spaces left by the missing teeth. They are usually recommended to restore your ability to chew, reposition your bite, replace missing teeth, and renew your speaking ability.

An incomplete smile can have a significant impact on your life and even prevent you from doing the things you love.  From eating, chewing, and speaking with confidence, dentures can fix several oral issues and improve your overall quality of life.

Dentures are made to replace your natural teeth and gums. The removable appliance helps to support facial muscles and improve your overall appearance. From partial to complete dentures, Dawson Dental offers a variety of restorative options to best meet your goals and budget.

What is the denture process?

The denture process typically involves several appointments. During your first consultation with our dental team, we will examine your teeth thoroughly to determine the right approach to replacing missing teeth and enhancing your smile. If some of your teeth are damaged or require extraction, our team of dentists will discuss your options with you to determine the most effective way to treat your dental conditions and to restore your bite to full functionality.

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is designed to replace one or several teeth and can help you enjoy a gap-free smile and a more attractive appearance. But to wear them successfully the supporting teeth must be in good health.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures offer great benefits to individuals missing an entire arch of teeth, or all their teeth. These include the improved ability to chew and eat comfortably which may result in better daily nutritional intake and enjoyable meals.

Whether you need a full or partial set, dentures can replace teeth in a non-invasive way. There is no surgical element to worry about, and temporary dentures can be fitted immediately. This provides a quick and easy solution! If, however, you are looking for something that feels more natural and permanent, there are denture alternatives to consider. Our team would be happy to discuss treatment options with you.

Transform your smile, pain free

Recognized as one of the most advanced and innovative forms of cosmetic dentistry, Lumineers are a faster, quicker, and completely painless alternative to traditional veneers. At just 0.2mm thick, Lumineers are fixed to your teeth without any tooth grinding or reduction procedures that traditional veneers require. By not altering the structure of your teeth, Lumineers also keep your teeth stronger and are completely removable if needed. Because they are so thin and ultra-lightweight, Lumineers are more translucent than traditional veneers and able to create a more natural-looking smile. With Lumineers, you can speak, eat and live your life to the fullest.

Lumineers can help with many dental imperfections such as:

brighten teeth and discolouration

  • eliminate gaps and spacing problems
  • restore chipped teeth
  • align crooked teeth
  • reshape your teeth
  • renew past dental work

Benefits

  • Only 2 dental visits are needed
  • NO discomfort or pain
  • No drilling or injections are needed
  • Last 20+ years
  • They are reversible
  • Can be colour-modified

Are Lumineers Strong?

YES! Lumineers are made from porcelain, which is less likely to fracture, chip, or break. In most cases, if properly cared for, Lumineers resist wear and remain resilient for up to 20 years.

Our Endodontic specialists are trained in saving teeth and performing procedures related to tooth pulp, nerves, and tissues inside the tooth.  Treatment or root canal therapy is performed to save a natural tooth by extracting the inner tooth structure, and then sealing the gap with a crown [Link to crowns and bridges] which helps to restore the functionality to damaged teeth.  Endodontists also specialize in diagnosing oral pain and treating traumatic injuries.

Sometimes an injury such as a car accident, a hard blow, or a crack in the tooth can damage the living tissue inside but the most common cause is tooth decay. Harmful bacteria break through the outer shell of your tooth and open a cavity. If not stopped, the decay will continue toward the nerve of the tooth causing irreversible inflammation in the pulp, which then becomes non-vital. If the root canal is not treated at that time, it will result in an infection or abscess. If the abscess is left untreated, you may experience severe discomfort and the infection could spread to the surrounding bone.

The Dentist will test the tooth in various ways to see how bad the damage is and, if necessary, will gain access through the crown to take out the diseased pulp. The root will then be permanently filled with special material so that the tooth can be restored.

Symptoms of endodontic problems include:

  • Tooth discoloration
  • Tenderness when chewing or biting
  • Sensitivity to hot and cold foods
  • Inflammation and tenderness in the gums
  • Unexplained pain in the lymph nodes

During endodontic treatment, the nerve, blood, and nutrient supply to the tooth is removed. This will cause the tooth to become brittle and prone to fracturing which could result in the need to extract the tooth. A full-coverage crown is recommended to prevent this from happening.

Some patients decide not to get a crown due to cost. This could result in a fracture that more than likely cannot be restored. The result will cost you more time and money than you had originally planned for.

Root canal therapy is often performed by a general dentist. In some cases, when the treatment is more complex, an endodontic specialist may be required.

If you have been referred to an endodontist from your general dentist, we can provide treatment for you and refer you back to your dentist for continuing care.
