Dr. Edward Gelfand is the founder of the Dawson Dental Centres where he has been practicing since 1996. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston.

He has always been proud to provide up-to-date dentistry for his patients. With a special passion for cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Gelfand combines a scientific diagnosis of your smile with his precise artistic skill.

Dr. Jo-Anne Meyer, DMD

Dr. Meyer graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1994. She completed a one year residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC and was in a private practice in Harare, Zimbabwe before immigrating to Canada in 2001. She has been practicing dentistry with Dr. Gelfand since that time and is now a full partner at Dawson Dental – Newmarket Davis Dr. & Aurora. Dr. Meyer has been a resident of Newmarket since immigrating to Canada and is married with two children.

Dr. Meyer continues to focus her career and training on making patients feel as comfortable as possible. She helps to ease dental anxiety by offering oral conscious sedation.

Dr. Mark Sokalsky, DDS

Dr. Sokalsky brings many years of experience to his patients. He is passionate about all aspects of cosmetic, restorative, and preventative dentistry.

Dr. Sokalsky believes that achieving optimal oral health is a team effort between provider and patient, which is why he takes his time to walk his patients through their treatment options and their relation to overall health. He understands that dental appointments are not easy for everyone, but he is always willing to move at a pace that is most comfortable for the patient.

In his free time, Dr. Sokalsky enjoys playing golf, baseball, and pickleball, as well as spending time with his two sons and grandsons.

Dr. Eric Sade, Periodontist

Dr. Sade obtained his degree in dentistry from the University of Toronto and completed a 3-year full time residency program in periodontics at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He currently maintains his private practice in Toronto.

Dr. Sade has joined with Dawson Dental to provide his expertise in the area of periodontics to patients who demonstrate the need for more advanced periodontal therapy.

Dr. Volker Stein, D.D.S.

Dr. Volker Stein received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Toronto in 1970. After a short associateship, Dr. Stein set up his own general practice in Newmarket and was joined in 1972 by Dr. Taylor. During the first 10 years of practice he was active in the local and provincial Dental Society executives. He was a surgical staff member at Southlake Regional Health Centre for 20 years, the last five as Chief of Dental Services, Surgery.

In 1991 his creative energies were directed to the invention and patenting of the “Omni-Matrix” a disposable retainer used by dentists to help contain and form fillings. More recently, Dr. Stein has designed and patented a toothbrush with integrated pop-up stand, available to the public at HeadsupToothbrush.com Dr. Stein lives in Aurora with his wife Oksana. He has two sons, Alexander and Christian. He enjoys golfing, skiing and reading during leisure time.

Dr. Amanda Braude, DDS

Dr. Amanda Braude has been in private practice since 2007 and offers all aspects of dental care including general dentistry, Invisalign orthodontics, Lumineers, and sedation and laughing gas for apprehensive patients. She also provides our patients with extended evening hours and Saturdays.

Dr. Braude enjoys working with children and seeing them smile after their first dental visit. She also has a great passion for our senior population, providing on-site dental treatment for many local long-term care facilities.

Dr. Braude was born in Sudbury but moved to the GTA as a teenager. She currently lives in Maple with her husband and two young boys.

Dr. James Nguyen , BSc. MSc., MBA., DDS

Dr. James has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the area of Orthodontics. Through the diversity of patients (ages 5 to 70+ years old) and complexity of orthodontic cases, Dr. James delivers exceptional orthodontic care to any patient seeking traditional (metal) or invisible braces.

He is family oriented and treats every patient like they are his own family member. He greatly enjoys discussing treatment options to ensure his patients are comfortable and informed. Building trust is a key ingredient to building a successful provider/patient relationship. Whether they have questions before, during, or after treatment, he makes sure his patients know that he is there for them every step of the way.

Dr. James graduated with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Toronto (U of T). His dedication to academic and clinical excellence is reflected in his 4 degrees from U of T. Dr. James is currently teaching at the faculty and continues to treat patients across Ontario and other provinces.

Dr. James shares two daughters, Belle and Kate, with his lovely wife Till. Having little ones allows Dr. James to truly relate to the joys and challenges that parents go through each day. Spending time with his girls is what he loves doing most outside of work.
