Frequently Asked Questions

What Are the Most Commonly Sought-After Types of Dentistry?

There are many different types of dental care you can consider for your oral health. The most commonly sought-after types of dentistry include: general dentistry (preventative and restorative care, such as cleanings, fillings, and crowns), cosmetic dentistry (such as teeth whitening, veneers, and dental implants), orthodontics (such as braces and Invisalign), and periodontics (such as gum disease treatment and dental implants).

Why Do I Need to Make Sure I Schedule Regular Check-Ups with My Dentist?

Scheduling regular check-ups with your dentist is important for your oral health. During these check-ups, your dentist will look for any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or other oral health issues. They can also provide preventive treatments, such as fluoride treatments and sealants, to protect your teeth from future damage.

Additionally, regular check-ups are an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have about your teeth or overall oral health.

Why is Visiting the Dentist Frequently Important for My Oral Health?

Visiting the dentist regularly is important for your oral health because it allows the dentist to detect and treat any oral problems that may be present before they become more serious.

Regular check-ups and cleanings can help to prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and other oral health issues. It also allows the dentist to spot any potential problems early, which can minimize the need for more extensive and costly treatments down the line.

How Do I Look for a New Dentist?

When looking for a new dentist to provide you with your oral healthcare, consider the following tips before making your final decision:

  1. Ask for recommendations. Start by asking your current dentist for a referral, as they typically have a network of dentists they know and trust. You can also ask friends, family, and colleagues whom they recommend.
  2. Research online to get a better sense of the dentists in your area and read online reviews.
  3. Make a list. Start by making a list of potential dentists and narrowing it down based on reputation, location, and other factors.
  4. Contact offices. Once you have narrowed down your list, call the offices to get more information about dentists and their services. Ask about the dentist’s experience and qualifications, payment options, and any other questions you have.
  5. Schedule a visit. Once you have narrowed your list down to a few dentists, schedule a visit so you can meet the dentist and get a better sense of the office and practice.

Why Do I Need to Visit a Dentist Even if My Oral Health is Good?

Visiting your dentist every six months is important even if your oral health is good. Regular dental visits are essential in order to maintain your dental health and catch any potential problems before they become serious.

During each visit, your dentist will check your teeth and gums for any signs of decay, infection, or other issues. The dentist may also take X-rays to look for any problems that may not be visible to the naked eye. A thorough cleaning can also help remove any plaque or tartar buildup to prevent cavities and gum disease.

Do Children Need to Visit the Dentist?

Yes, children should visit the dentist regularly. Regular visits to the dentist help protect children’s teeth and gums from decay and other problems.

It is recommended that children should have their first dental visit by age 1 or within six months after their first tooth appears.

How Often Should I Be Seeing My Dentist?

It is recommended that you visit your dentist for a checkup and cleaning every 6 months. However, depending on your oral health, your dentist may suggest that you go more often.
